World War 2 books

We have recently acquired a number of brand new WW2 books and these are listed below. We have only a single copy of each title.

Afrika Korps by Ian Baxter. An illustrated record of Field-Marshal Erwin Rommel and his desert troops that fought in North Africa against British and Commonwealth forces between 1941 and 1943. Using previously rare and unpublished photographs, many of which have come from the albums of individuals who took part in the desert campaign, it presents a unique visual account of the famous Afrika-Korps' operations and equipment. Aircraft Versus Submarine 1912-1945 by Dr Alfred Price. The first aircraft to sink a submarine was a small flying-boat of the Imperial Austro-Hungarian Naval Air Arm. The year was 1916 and by this time during World War One, the aeroplane as an attack weapon was becoming appreciated by all the combatants. In World War Two the very survival of the British nation was threatened when Hitler's U boats caused massive destruction to the North Atlantic lifeline. The development of anti-submarine warfare from the air was a major factor in decreasing the number of casualties to Allied merchant shipping. The Secret War by Brian Johnson. Orginally a TV tie-in expanded from the BBC televison series, the book covers the behind-the-scenes aspects of the fight by the 'back room' scientists and technicians of WW2, including the battles against the Luftwaffe navigational beams, the V-1 and V-2 flying bombs, the development of radar, the battle against the u-boats, countering the magnetic mine, and the breaking of the codes produced by the Enigma machines. Das Reich by Philip Vickers. Published by Pen and Sword in the Battleground Europe Series, France, South West.
